tickets

I live in Kansas City, which is a wonderful city but definitely not known for our sports teams.  However as a semi-non-sports person, I kinda like it that way.  I enjoy sports enough to enjoy an occasional game, purely for the feel of the game.  Since we don’t have extremely record-winning sports teams, it is [...]

Shopping in Boston

Today my family and I are helping my sister fix up her condo. It’s not a “fixer-upper”- it’s actually in very good condition- but of course when you buy a new home, you want to get it set up “just right”, with shelves and light fixtures and so forth where you want them. Right now [...]

arrival: boston

It’s been a long day but my parents and I have arrived safely in Boston.  We flew from Kansas City to Milwaukee, and then from Milwaukee to Boston.  My sister picked us up at the airport and took us to McDonalds for dinner.  I got to see my first impressions of Boston, including the “Big [...]

baseball

One thing I love about living in Kansas City is our baseball team.  I know that our team is not the Yankees, Red Sox, or White Sox but the Kansas City Royals are very close to my heart.  It is MUCH cheaper to go to a Royals game at Kaufman Stadium than to buy Yankee [...]

hyatt regency skywalk collapse

On July 17, 1981, a terrible disaster occurred at the Hyatt Regency here in Kansas City.  I wasn’t even born yet, but the disaster that night cut a deep scar into our community.  Due to a tragic error in the building’s construction, compounded by the number of people present that day, two skywalks in the [...]

Edit: I wrote this in bed last night but my blackberry was acting up.
-reasons I love being a freelance: I can lay in bed, in my pajamas, and write. I can watch a movie and write. I can sleep in on Monday mornings. When I have insomnia, I can get a little work done. This [...]

weird weird weather

On Friday night, our local weather forcasters were predicting a LOT of snow overnight- between four and twelve inches, depending on who you asked, which is definitely a lot of snow for late march in Missouri.  In fact, my parents and I went grocery shopping on Friday night, along with the rest of Kansas City.  [...]

25 things

Redirected from my Facebook page, because I don’t trust them with my content anymore.  Have you heard about their new ToS?

My middle name is Susanne.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, went to college nearby, and upon graduation, I moved as far away from the US as I could.
Then I moved back.  [...]

i love to fly, in spite of…

I have had many opportunities in my life to fly.  I don’t have a pilot’s license, although maybe someday I’ll seek one.  In the meantime, I love to fly as a passenger, in spite of stories like this and the many delays that you may encounter in an airport.  So, lacking something else to say [...]

fountains

I was born and raised near Kansas City, Missouri, colloquially known as the “city of fountains”.  That worked out well, as I grew up to LOVE fountains.  Technically I love water in general- swimming pools, lakes, rivers – and fountains are just sort of an extension of that.
I would love to install wall fountains, or [...]
