sometimes even technology doesn’t help

Today I was driving through an *unnamed* neighborhood, looking for a particular house, with only poorly written directions as my aid.  This neighborhood was so new that not even Google maps was up-to-date on the streets- and thus my blackberry was of no help.  Though occasionally I would see a decent address sign, there were [...]

greetings and salutations

Morning everyone!
Usually I’m just waking up around this time but today I was awakened at 6am by the school district.  All kinds of jobs I don’t want.  I just don’t enjoy working with them as much anymore, not to mention I have oodles of writing to do today. (is it Friday already?)
I also need to [...]

find.com

I spend a lot of time online.  I mean, a LOT of time.  As in, if I didn’t earn a little money from it, my time spent online would be a total waste.
In the process, I’ve learned a lot about getting around on the internet.  I use Wikipedia all the time.  I use Google, Yahoo, [...]

denim

I’m a t-shirt and jeans gal.  If I had my choice about it, I would wear a t-shirt and jeans every day of my life, with an added pullover sweatshirt in the winter, and flip flop shoes whenever possible.  Give me a pair of jeans, and I will wear them until they are shreds.
Right now [...]

unusual facebook friend requests

Here’s some recent unusual facebook friend requests for your amusement.
First, we’ll take a look at “Mike Baldwin”.  He’s a democrat who lives in Kansas City and graduated from the same high school as me, two years before me.  Aside from being a democrat, he looks reasonably legit.  I’ll probably approve him.  (Note to all my [...]

zip codes

I am a huge fan of the internet for finding stores.  But it can easily get challenging to do so.  Sometimes, if I’m looking for a specific store, I can go to that store’s website.  If it’s a good website, there will be a map included.  Otherwise I take the address over to Google Maps [...]

google shockers

I love Google.  It is by far the best search engine I have ever used.
A few minutes ago, I was searching with Google to find the average size of a person’s vocabulary.  So imagine my surprise when I found these results!
Vocabulary size and penis length?  Ummm… okay…
(Yes, I love my tabs.  It’s my thing, let [...]

scary moment

A few minutes ago, I powered up my computer.
I opened Firefox and began typing in a website url.  Nothing happened.
I clicked over to another tab and attempted to type in the Google search box.  Nothing happened.
I hit “ctrl-t” to open a new tab.  Nothing happened.
I closed Firefox.  I went to “start-shutdown-reboot”.  While the computer was [...]

it’s delicious, not yummy

When I first started surfing the ‘net as a wee tot, I used the bookmarks menu that came with Internet Explorer to mark my favorite sites.  Game sites, usually.
A few years ago, I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox.  It’s free, it’s flexible, and it uses much less memory than IE.
Around the same time, I [...]

i love free programs- gimp, photoscape, you name it

I spent a lot of time yesterday and today editing photos in GIMP.  It was, in some ways, a slow and laborious process.  Lots of it was “slow” because I had to learn as I went along.  I am FAR from a GIMP expert.  But I learned, and I edited, and I’m quite pleased with [...]
