Feeling better, good days

My cold is noticeably better today. I’m not all better but I’m definitely better than I was yesterday, and for that I’m thankful.

Our weather has been so odd this weekend. This morning it was pouring rain, so I got up early, fed the dog, and went to my friend’s house to feed her cats. That [...]

happy post christmas!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas!  It is so nice to relax and enjoy a “vacation” from work.  Of course, there’s still plenty to do- cleaning the house, cooking, shopping, and so forth.  But it’s nice to sleep in a little, and to not have the pressure of work.
At my house, Christmas [...]

Merry Christmas!!!

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, [...]

walmart, 9pm, Christmas (almost)eve

I had to make an emergency run to Walmart tonight.
It was related to my Christmas gifts… I had run out of this one craft supply and needed just a bit more to finish this gift.  I thought about waiting until tomorrow but it’s supposed to snow tomorrow, so… off to Walmart I went, at about [...]

can you believe christmas is almost here?

It’s been an insanely busy day, but productive.  Another bullet post for your reading pleasure…

I got two packages today, both christmas gifts that I had ordered.  It’s awfully nice to have them in my posession.
Did a whole bunch of dishes this morning… cleaned the kitchen.
I photo shopped a half dozen photos this morning.  Mostly it [...]

Christmas is such a fantastic holiday.  Quite frankly, Christmas rocks.  As a kid, you get to sit on Santa’s lap and tell Santa what you want.  As an adult, you get to “be Santa” and give gifts to the kids in your life.  That may be just as much fun as receiving gifts.  However, who [...]

“time” for christmas

This week, my mom found a cartoon in the paper that is, in many ways, perfect for our family.  There was an old guy talking about Christmas gifts who said something like (melinda paraphrase) “if I can’t eat it, drink it, smoke it, wear it, watch it, or burn it, then I don’t want it!”  [...]

high school and christmas gifts and more, oh my!

Phew, what a day!  I taught high school math- trigonometry and geometry – which was about as easy as they get.  I gave two tests and “supervised” a review assignment.  The tests were Scantrons, which are wonderful and very easy to administer.
After school I went to Kmart, where I searched high and low for Christmas [...]

early childhood

I agreed to sub in an early childhood center this afternoon.  I’m not usually very interested in early childhood- my strongest areas are with the older kids.  But the gal at Central Office offered me more money to do this… and, hey, I’m a bit of a glutton for money, so sure, why not.
My sister’s [...]

NOW we get a snow day!

I can’t decide if I’m glad to get the day off or annoyed because I could really use the money from working.
Today was a snow day.  It became quite bitterly cold and it SNOWED- a lot!  About six inches, give or take, and there was not enough time to plow all the roads before school.  [...]
