This morning, we awoke to a ridiculously huge thunderstorm, even by Missouri standards. I am composing this in the backseat of the car on our way to church, and it is still coming down. We’ve already passed couple of street lights that had no power, and frankly I was surprised that my house did not lose power. There are also lots of tree limbs down all over the place.
My ability to blog is quite limited temporarily. While we were in Canada, the power cord for my laptop gave out. I ordered a new cord, but until that gets here, it’s just me and my blackberry! Hope you are all having a safe (and dry!) Sunday!

Ah. I wish I could update my website from the air. I am quite bored!
Yay to Midwest Airlines- our flight from Boston to Milwaukee left on time and arrived EARLY, then Midwest moved us from the 4:10 Milwaukee to Kansas City flight to the 1:30 MKE-MCI flight. So we will arrive in KC almost 3 hours ahead of schedule! That virtually NEVER happens in air travel- so, yay for Midwest Airlines! (Plus their chocolate chip cookies are just pretty good!)
This will be a very busy week for me. I have oodles of photos to upload, plus shopping for a new camera, also possibly shopping for a new pc- the power cord on my notebook quit while we were in Canada. I ordered a new cord on Ebay, so that should be waiting for me when we get home, but my computer is just getting old and needs to be replaced. Plus on top of all that, I will finish scraping wallpaper and painting my bedroom/office this week- a big job!
We are descending so I will have to shut off my blackberry soon. Looking forward to getting a good meal and sleeping in my own bed!

Today my family and I are helping my sister fix up her condo. It’s not a “fixer-upper”- it’s actually in very good condition- but of course when you buy a new home, you want to get it set up “just right”, with shelves and light fixtures and so forth where you want them. Right now I’m following her and my mother around Home Depot, and I’m bored so I am blogging on my blackberry.
My first impressions of Boston life is very positive. My sister has always said that I would never enjoy living on the East Coast because of the faster pace of living there. I admit that I have stayed in Kansas City because, and I have very little desire to move away from Kansas City because of the ridiculously low cost of living. It would be more expensive to live in a place like Boston. But if money were not an issue, I think my sister is wrong. I think I would enjoy living in a place like Boston or Philadelphia or Richmond very much. Of course it is not likely that I would move to those cities anytime soon- financially I have no reason to live in Kansas City. But if I could I would.
There are a lot of “lockable” things available here though, which you don’t see in KC. If I lived here (or anywhere), I would want to live in a VERY secure home, where I wouldn’t have to worry about my computers and electronic gadgets being stolen.
Not sure what else to say. We’re still at Home Depot- we’ve left the light fixtures and now we are looking at countertops. My sister and I do not think alike when it comes to designing, so I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut during this kind of excursion. She and I would design a room very differently, so the chances that we would like the same fixtures are slim, and it’s just easier for all of us if I don’t pipe up.
Off to the towel rods… Here is a photo of a very strange product for your shower. You mount it in your shower and put your shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in it. I think I would be too lazy to pour the shampoo etc. out of the bottles and into this. Plus wouldn’t there be a lot of wasted shampoo that would stick to the side of the bottles? It reminds me of the funny products you’d see in an infomercial or in an airline magazine.
Okay, can’t think of much else to say. Hopefully my sis is almost done shopping. I’m sure I will be blogging again today though!

-the past two days have been kinda crazy. My mom is helping me to strip the wallpaper in my room, then we will repaint the whole thing. It will look so nice. We have already gotten the wallpaper off of two walls- which is very good when you consider that we have not removed any furniture from the room.
-by the way, the garage sale went very well and I’m now a couple hundred dollars richer.
-with all the room redecorating, I’m seriously considering how I want to arrange the furniture. The room is SMALL (10ftx10ft) and functions as both my bedroom and my office. I really am thinking I may need to loft my bed, but I have a few concerns about that too. For starters I’m afraid it would get too warm- I would be near the ceiling of a room on the top floor of the house. Also the ceiling is textured plaster, and not ideal for sitting under. But on the other hand, I really love to sleep up high (I know, it’s one of my quirks) and I could really use the extra floor space. I can go back and forth on this for a LONG time.
-next week my parents and I will visit my sister in Boston. We will be there for a couple of weeks and we will probably also drive up to canada. Don’t worry, I will take lots of photos and I will have my computer.
-speaking of computers, I’m thinking about getting a new one. Probably not until fall, when my life will hopefully settle down a bit. But it looks like I can get an HP pavilion dv-series notebook for around 1k, and that is good.
-can’t think of anything else. Seriously, I have far too much to do today!

Hey all. Not a lot of time tonight but I haven’t forgotten you.
I actually got quite a bit done today. It was busy and productive.
Tomorrow we are (re)opening our garage sale. I am just praying someone will buy my desk. I absolutely HAVE to get rid of it- I have no room for it!
I just brushed a hair off my arm. Now it has made me paranoid that there is a spider somewhere crawling on me.
I have to get up early tomorrow so I should go to sleep. Always lots of work to do!

Hello blog. I don’t know if this will go through, because I’ve discovered the cell service is pretty flukey around Funk amd Wilcox. Luckily our hotel is in Minden, and I can get a pretty reliable EDGE signal there. So it WILL get sent eventually.
I hope my cell phone battery holds out all day. I think I will charge it in the car. It’s just low enough that it could die on me.
We had a memorial service this morning for my great uncle, who died last April from a heart attack. It was at the Salem church outside Funk, Nebraska. That church was founded by one of my ancestors- let me think- it was my second-double-cousin’s great-uncle’s grandfather- which makes it- eh, something like my fourth great grandfather.
Then we came to the park behind my great aunt and great uncle’s house in Wilcox, Nebraska. They catered a lunch for all of us. The food was delicious. Afterwards we all just sat around and talked. The young kids played kickball. I am still sitting in the picnic shelter. I’ve pretty much talked myself out, so now I’m just bored. Nothing to do except play with the blackberry.
I’m half hoping that we will get to go back to the hotel this afternoon. I would love to change out of my tennis shoes and into my flip flops, and out of my tshirt and into a tank top and jacket. I would also like to drink a nice big cherry coke zero, and I’d love to visit Pioneer Village in Minden.
Not much else to say. I think (hope?) we will leave soon. Don’t know what else we will do this afternoon. For dinner we are meeting my Dad’s brother and his wife, their daughter and her husband, his sister, her son, her daughter and husband, and their two kids. Confused yet? I have to admit I’m not *that* excited about it, but hopefully with blackberry I will be entertained.
