dry skin, dry hands

I have had dry skin on my hands since I was 17.  It’s odd but I can remember exactly when it started - right after my car accident at age 17.  I’ve read that some doctors call this “hand dermatitis” or “hand eczema”.  Personally I call this annoying!

When I was in college, I didn’t take very good care of myself, and as a result my hands would constantly be red and cracked.  It was extremely painful!  Often my hands would be so irritated that it looked almost as though I was wearing gloves.

As I started to take better care of myself, my hands improved, but it’s never gone away entirely.  Luckily all the painful cracked skin is (mostly) gone.  Now I just have annoyingly dry hands.  I use lotion on them almost every night, and it’s quite tolerable.  If I’m really lucky, they’ll improve so much that the problems will go away entirely!
