I got my Blackberry replaced today. Went to the AT&T store with my receipt and they just replaced it, very little explanation needed. It’s nice to have my phone back again.
I can barely believe that tomorrow I will go back to work. Or at least, I MIGHT go back to work… I don’t have a [...]

Yesterday I taught in a middle school. I’ve taught in this school before, but not much- only one or two half-days. So, yesterday was the last day of school before the holiday break. I didn’t expect to work yesterday but I got a call and, hey, I can use the money, so I was there.
They [...]

Particularly in the high school and middle school, but even sometimes in the elementary school, teachers have to deal with electronics. As a sub, I get a double dose of it just because the kids always test a sub. Kids want to listen to their Ipods or play with their PSPs. Personally, I have no [...]

Phew, what a day! I taught high school math- trigonometry and geometry - which was about as easy as they get. I gave two tests and “supervised” a review assignment. The tests were Scantrons, which are wonderful and very easy to administer.
After school I went to Kmart, where I searched high and low for Christmas [...]

I received a call this morning around 8:00 asking me to sub in an early childhood center. (As an aside, Dawn, I really appreciate the extra couple of hours of sleep!) Anyway, I got a call around 8am asking me if I would be willing to work in this early childhood center from 11am-6pm. I [...]

I agreed to sub in an early childhood center this afternoon. I’m not usually very interested in early childhood- my strongest areas are with the older kids. But the gal at Central Office offered me more money to do this… and, hey, I’m a bit of a glutton for money, so sure, why not.
My sister’s [...]

I can’t decide if I’m glad to get the day off or annoyed because I could really use the money from working.
Today was a snow day. It became quite bitterly cold and it SNOWED- a lot! About six inches, give or take, and there was not enough time to plow all the roads before school. [...]

Today’s sub job was fine. I mean, I had to work kinda hard, in the way that you always have to work when you are chasing young kids. They wound up putting me in first grade in the morning, and in second grade in the afternoon. They are doing a bunch of grade level curriculum [...]

No snow days around here.
I’m leaving in a few minutes to teach first grade. I’m trying to focus on the money I will earn, instead of how much work it will be.
I was so hopeful I didn’t even make a lunch. So I need to go make a sandwich too. *blah*
See you tonight…

Tomorrow, I am scheduled to teach in a first grade class. Now, first graders are wonderful in a first grade way- they are really cute, and very sweet. I don’t think I’ve ever taught in a kindergarten, first, or second grade classroom without getting peppered with hugs. It’s a beautiful, no-strings-attached kind of love.
But at [...]
