hip replacements

My late grandmother had a double hip replacement when I was a kid.  She was actually in a really serious car accident- this guy fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the median, and hit her head-on.  She never drove again, although miraculously she was able to get around fairly well.
Anyway, I read this story today [...]

new toys, computer recycling

What a crazy day.  I am trying to clean out my office so that I will have a good place for the new laptop I ordered (should be here any day) and the netbook I ordered.  The netbook came in the mail yesterday.  I also ordered a new mouse on Newegg.com, since my old mouse [...]

shopping

In the past couple of weeks, good grief, I have become disturbingly good at finding a good deal online!  I’ve bought a computer, a netbook, and a mouse- and that’s just in the technology department.  I’m also searching for a new pair of  jeans, and I’m toying with the idea of buying a new swimsuit, [...]

ants!!!

Recently we discovered that we have a problem with ANTS in our house!
They have so far remained pretty localized around a kitchen window and the sink below it.  They are itty-bitty and really annoying pavement ants.  We put out some Raid ant traps, which helped for a few days but now seem to be totally [...]

the family rv

My step-grandmother brought a new RV into the family.  She and her late husband traveled around the nation quite a bit in this RV, and now she and my grandfather are also preparing to travel with it.  They’re looking at visiting Canada soon (probably Banff, to be specific).
They are still considering where they will go [...]

a really great day

This has just been a really really good day for me.
First of all, my dad and I spent our evening fixing my pastor’s computer.  That was a really challenging task, and I give a lot of credit to my brilliant father, and of course to God.  Between the two of them, that thing is now [...]

more thoughts about money

I was thinking just a day or two ago that it is too bad I’m not in a good place to be buying a house.  There was a story on the news about how this really is a great time to buy.  Hopefully it will still be a great time to buy in a couple [...]

liberia

With this story in the news recently, I just feel the need to point it out on here.
I lived in Liberia for a time, and it is just so humbling.  We complain about when the electricity is out or when a toilet gets clogged, but in Liberia they do not even have electricity or running [...]

appointments and errands

Today I scheduled an appointment with my eye doctor- one of those things I’ve need to do for about two months now!  Unfortunately the result of my procrastination is that I will run out of contact lenses a few days before I will be able to get new ones, but that’s only a minor nuisance.
The [...]
