My late grandmother had a double hip replacement when I was a kid.  She was actually in a really serious car accident- this guy fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the median, and hit her head-on.  She never drove again, although miraculously she was able to get around fairly well.

Anyway, I read this story today about a durom lawsuit, which I think was the brand of hip replacement she had.  I don’t know about any issues on zimmer durom cup, but I have to give credit to the durom lawyer.  Talk about finding a lawsuit wherever you can!

What a crazy day.  I am trying to clean out my office so that I will have a good place for the new laptop I ordered (should be here any day) and the netbook I ordered.  The netbook came in the mail yesterday.  I also ordered a new mouse on Newegg.com, since my old mouse gave out.  That was scheduled for delivery on August 3- but surprisingly that came in the mail today also!  Hopefully I will get some photos of all the new stuff for you, but at the moment I am relying on my mother’s camera for all my photography needs.

Tomorrow I am going to visit the Surplus Exchange, a recycling center for computer and technology stuff.  It allows that stuff to be recycled safely, and also you can sometimes find cheap stuff there- like keyboards, mice, computer parts, etc.  Should be lots of fun, but I need to clean out a bunch of stuff to take so that I will have more room in my office!

In the past couple of weeks, good grief, I have become disturbingly good at finding a good deal online!  I’ve bought a computer, a netbook, and a mouse- and that’s just in the technology department.  I’m also searching for a new pair of  jeans, and I’m toying with the idea of buying a new swimsuit, since my current swimsuit is almost totally worn out.  I’m also debating about buying another pair of shorts.  I love wearing shorts, but I hate shaving my legs- so should I stick with blue jeans or wear shorts?  These are the really hard questions in a woman’s life!

Recently we discovered that we have a problem with ANTS in our house!

They have so far remained pretty localized around a kitchen window and the sink below it.  They are itty-bitty and really annoying pavement ants.  We put out some Raid ant traps, which helped for a few days but now seem to be totally useless- the ants are back and just as bad as before.

Today we bought a Pic Ant Control System at Kmart.  This uses different chemicals from Raid and is advertised as working on pavement ants, as well as several other “species” of ants.  Needless to say we are hoping for the best!

My step-grandmother brought a new RV into the family.  She and her late husband traveled around the nation quite a bit in this RV, and now she and my grandfather are also preparing to travel with it.  They’re looking at visiting Canada soon (probably Banff, to be specific).

They are still considering where they will go after this Canada trip.  Maybe they should go to an rv park north carolina- they could visit my cousin who lives nearby, and I’ve heard good things about nc rv parks.  Of course they don’t have to go to an rv park nc- the sky is really the limit!  Pretty neat!

This has just been a really really good day for me.

First of all, my dad and I spent our evening fixing my pastor’s computer.  That was a really challenging task, and I give a lot of credit to my brilliant father, and of course to God.  Between the two of them, that thing is now humming along beautifully.

My mom found blinds for our church at Walmart, CHEAP- which was amazing and a total blessing, because it is an odd size and we have been looking  all over the place for them!

To top it all off, I received my new Asus EEE netbook in the mail today!  I haven’t even had a chance to play with it yet!

But overall a very good day!

I was thinking just a day or two ago that it is too bad I’m not in a good place to be buying a house.  There was a story on the news about how this really is a great time to buy.  Hopefully it will still be a great time to buy in a couple of years when I AM ready to buy a house!

Of course in the meantime I’m saving every penny I can.  I have an online bank, which I love.  I can do all my banking online, from paying the bills to stock tradingOnline trading is so convenient for me, and I can access it from anywhere at all.  I would encourage everyone to try and find an online broker- it cuts down on the overhead but you can still get great service!

With this story in the news recently, I just feel the need to point it out on here.

I lived in Liberia for a time, and it is just so humbling.  We complain about when the electricity is out or when a toilet gets clogged, but in Liberia they do not even have electricity or running water.  We forget what a blessing it is to live in the United States.

There are many imperfections within our government, but for all our imperfections, life in America is still a thousand times better than many of our alternatives.

Today I scheduled an appointment with my eye doctor- one of those things I’ve need to do for about two months now!  Unfortunately the result of my procrastination is that I will run out of contact lenses a few days before I will be able to get new ones, but that’s only a minor nuisance.

The other thing I need to do this summer is transfer one of my bank CDs to a new bank.  I set up that particular CD about eight years ago, when CD rates were ironically enough very good at that bank.  It has been a 12-month CD that renews automatically every year, and I’ve earned plenty of money through interest since then. (isn’t interest an amazing thing?)  But that particular bank no longer offers the best CD rates, and I want to move that money to a different bank with better rates!
