Need a Host?

This morning my mom and I went swimming.  It is hard for me, in the sense that, it is VERY RARE for me to eagerly jump out of bed in the morning.  I’m just not a morning person.  So when my alarm goes off to wake me up to go swimming- well, it takes an awful lot of willpower to get out of bed.  But once I’m dressed and in the pool, it’s not so bad.  Maybe it’s just that, once I’m wet and I’ve got chlorine in my hair, I might as well put in a few laps.

Anyway, Mom and I got up and got to the pool fairly early.  It was VERY quiet.  The only people in the pool, besides us, was a small water-aerobics class.  There was a lifeguard teaching the water aerobics class, and there was another lifeguard sitting on the lifeguard stand.  There is almost always a lifeguard in the lifeguard seat at this pool- I think that helps them with insurance and liability issues.  So we were swimming and basically ignoring everyone else.  At the end of a lap, I noticed something odd.  The lifeguard sitting on the lifeguard stand, who without a doubt was bored out of his mind, was reading something.  Now I’m no expert, but I’m fairly sure that is frowned upon in the lifeguarding community.  I swam over to my mother and pointed out the reading lifeguard.

It was my mom who noticed that he was reading something that looked an awful lot like a Bible.  It was then that I noticed that he was wearing a baseball cap that said “Jesus Christ”.  That was when my mom said, “I guess he has a whole other definition of “save yourself”!
