oprah: the most political non political in existance

Oprah, Oprah, Oprah…

I’m sure that by now, most of you have heard about the Drudge Report interview telling us that Oprah is refusing to interview Sarah Palin.  The story has even made ABCNEWS.com.

In spite of her two previous interviews with Barack Obama, Oprah says that she has now chosen to not use her show as a political platform and will not interview any other candidates.  Given that Oprah has decided to support Obama, that is certainly a strange decision.  Or, to quote Dr. Cindy Grossman-Green, from the ABCNEWS article, “She’s being two-faced… She initially had Obama on her show, but now that she’s decided [to support him], she won’t have any other political candidates on.”

Oprah, you cannot tell me that, by NOW choosing to not interview any candidates, you are making a nonpartisan decision.  If you want to publicly support Obama, then that’s fine, that’s your choice.  But don’t pretend like you have no political stance for one hour every day.  Your choice to not interview Palin is a huge political statement in itself.

I don’t watch oprah, and I’m not keeping up with the political election…but that does not seem right. :/ I’m sure she is going to here quite a bit about this.

  2. Jessica says:

Oprah may be a Obama advocate, but she should still be giving other candidates a chance to tell their side on her show!

Jessicas last blog post..A cluster of thoughts, all bundled up in one post!

I don’t really watch oprah either… quite frankly I think her show has really gone downhill the past few years. It’s just kinda dumb now. But I think that the way she’s handling this political situation is kind of a blunder. I know she’s trying to be non partisan, but I think the way she’s handling this will come across as a huge political statement.

  5. melinda says:

Totally agreed, Jessica. Like I said to Becca… I think she’s trying to be non partisan but it’s coming across as majorly partisan. I suspect that this may backfire on her.

  6. melinda says:

LOL Pia, you are lucky that you don’t have to deal with all the political rhetoric right now. I don’t know what to think of Oprah lately… she’s got all this “new earth” new age-y stuff on her show. Weird stuff!

  7. Plunger Girl says:

This makes Oprah look like a joke. Even more so than usual.

  8. I agree with your post. Which is not something I will usually do! :) I enjoy reading a post that will make one think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!i
