It sounds like we are practically two peas in a pod...
I also have a family full of teachers... and around here there are two ways to get a teaching job. It's preferred if you do both...
1)Have a mother, father, grandparent, aunt, uncle, third cousin's dog's veterinarian's sister, husband's brother's mistress' brother, etc. who is on the school board or is a school principal.
2)Be unhealthily anorexically thin and drop dead gorgeous. Extra points if you are willing to sleep with some or all of the school administration.
Isn't it nice to know we are presenting such good role models to our children? *cough cough*

i went to college for education...mind you, i did not finish because it turned out I DO NOT HAVE THE KNACK TO TEACH! i was very disappointed in myself, but i just didn't want to be one of those people teaching solely for summers off, etc. i hate those teachers!

that being said, i know a lot about the school system down here because my mother and grandmother were both teachers, i grew up hanging out with teachers, and i still have several friends who are teachers.

i don't know if it's like this where you live but in louisiana it's ALLLL about who you know. you may have the best resume in the world, but if you aren't related or friends with someone on the school board or if you aren't the superintendent's fourth cousin's wife's sister, you can forget about getting the placement you want. it's all politics down here...but then, everything in louisiana is that way. :o

kristas last blog post..<a href="http://alrightbysunlight.com/?p=197" rel="nofollow">long days</a>
