I was organizing my feeds on Bloglines and reading old posts when I found this post from Intubate Em! Go pay her a visit- she provides a refreshing bit of humor from the medical world.
This is a summary of a conversation i ‘overheard’ while minding my own
business charting at the nurses station.
Postpartum nurse: will you please check on my pts. I can’t take it
anymore.
Nursery nurse: sure, why?
Pp nurse: this is the 34 weeker from earlier today. The father is so
demanding. He wants to know why we are saying its 38 weeks.
Nursery nurse: the baby dubowitzed at 38 weeks. I did it myself.
Pp nurse: I know. I explained that to him. He want the chart changed
to show this is an actual 34 weeker because if it is really 38 weeks….
ITS NOT HIS BABY!!!
