Tonight on the news, ABC did a feature about Teensurance, a resource for parents of driving teens. Teensurance was developed by Safeco Insurance. Basically, for $15 a month, Teensurance provides roadside assistance, a GPS, and parental resources like curfew reminders, speed reminders, instant vehicle location, and instant notification (via cell phone) when the teen breaks one of the parent’s “rules”, like driving too fast or driving outside of a pre-set area.
As a driver, I think this is just a pretty great idea. I know that as a teenager, I definitely was not as good of a driver as I am today. Teenagers need to know that their actions have consequences, and this is one fantastic way for those teenagers to realize this.
