You are absolutely right, David Archuleta seems very young, although in Hollywood terms I guess he's not "that" young. I didn't watch American Idol that much, but from what I saw I liked David Cook's voice better as well. Plus, like you said, David Cook seems a bit older and more able to handle everything. I didn’t vote for him either but I do think I agree… if I had to choose one of them I would’ve gone for David Cook.
