If you’ve just started a blog, whether you are blogging for money or for fun, you’re embarking on a fantastic adventure. Blogging is a lot of fun, and there are so many things that you can learn along the way. If you want a successful blog, you will probably learn a lot of suggestions like “post frequently” and “blog about something you are really passionate about”. These are excellent suggestions, and should definitely be implemented as much as possible.
When you begin your blog, you will probably start with a basic template created by your blogging platform. However, I can almost guarantee that as your blog begins to represent your personality, you will want to make changes to your blog. You might want to add a widget to the sidebar or change the background color. Changes like these generally require at least a basic knowledge of HTML.
I knew nothing about HTML when I began blogging. However, I discovered that by studying open-source blog themes, I could teach myself how to create my own blog template. “Open-source” is a fancy term meaning “free”. You can find open-source designs by googling terms like “open-source web design” or “free wordpress themes”. You can browse these themes to find one that you like and, perhaps, to learn how to modify a template or create a template from scratch.

I think I have got some of this blog thing figured out…
I’ve been blogging for quite awhile but only blogging for money for the past few months. I’m moving off of Blogspot and onto my own servers (which, by the way, is probably one of the best moves I’ve made in a long long time), and plan to create and maintain multiple blogs. This particular blog (scribble.skiosho.com) gets to be my “random” blog. I will be blogging on here about my life as a freelance writer, but this will also be where I write a number of posts about my life in general.
This will be quite an adventure, and I hope you’ll stick around. I’m teaching myself CSS and so much more about blogging for money. Enjoy the ride!
